Reducing Stress In The Military!

Ordered by the Department of National Defence, a tender for 20,000 orange stress balls was issued in Canada, only to be pulled at the last minute by the Defence Minister Peter MacKay. Considering they were supposed to be on budget cuts, apparently nobody could figure out what the purpose was for. Obviously it can be stressful in the army, but somehow squeezing a stress ball while being fired on by the enemy doesn't really sound like a practical idea!

This story was reported in the National Post in Canada. Gregory Thomas, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation said “I think there’s 166 members of the Conservative caucus, so maybe they’re planning on having the stress balls wear out after one day and they’re planning on having 120 days of discussions on their pension.” So far I'm happy to report that we haven't had any requests for 20,000 stress balls for the Australian Army! Maybe we're made of sterner stuff.
